Safer Holloway
Supporting neighbours for a Safer Holloway
If we all work together, neighbourhood crime, including knife crime and antisocial behaviour in Holloway Ward can be reduced and even prevented. Residents, businesses, local charities, housing associations, local council and police can all play their part. Safer Holloway (HW-SNSG)* is a public forum run by volunteers to represent the views and concerns of local people and help everyone work together for actual and effective change. We aim to build relationships between people and organisations to improve communication and involvement in reducing crime and antisocial behaviour, for a better, safer Holloway Ward.
This initiative is being led by a group of volunteers. This group has been helping to set some of the local policing priorities for some time. We want to enable residents to work together and interact more fruitfully with Police (Metropolitan Police’s Safer Neighbourhood scheme) and other agencies concerned with our safety.
We are also researching what impact crime and ASB has on the lives of people in Holloway Ward, and how well agencies tackle it. We aim to hold these agencies to account, encourage them to work effectively together and with local people, and do their jobs to protect residents effectively. *What is HW-SNSG, and why Safer Holloway?
It stands for Holloway Ward – Safer Neighbourhood Steering Group, but it’s a bit of a mouthful and no-one really knows what it means. So we called ourselves Safer Holloway, because that’s what we want and that’s what we’re working hard towards achieving.
